Courses Offered
Distribution
Lineman participating in this course will receive instruction on working with single and three-phase energized lines using insulated cover up with rubber gloves and sleeves, both from an insulated platform on poles and out of bucket trucks. The course will also include single and three-phase maintenance and new construction problems using live line tools for voltages up to 12.5kV. Participants are required to bring proper safety gear, tools, rubber gloves, and climbing gear.
4th Year Apprentices can also choose the 4th year course- projects designed specifically for 4th year students.
Substation
Journey or apprentice substation techs attending this course will receive instruction from some of the industry’s finest instructors. Course topics include print reading and switching, exothermic welding certification, engineering theory with Bodec, and a couple classes taught by SEL’s Ken Workman.

Transmission
For linemen who are interested in receiving instruction on live line maintenance and new construction on 46 kV lines, this course is for you. Top notch instruction from Chance and Garkane Energy.
Participants are required to bring proper safety gear, tools, rubber gloves, and climbing gear.
Underground/Switching
Linemen participating in this course will gain a deeper understanding of underground distribution systems through classroom instruction and hands-on training. The course will place a strong emphasis on switching operations, underground cable theory, cable preparation, and proper installation techniques. Participants will have opportunities to perform and observe switching procedures, prepare cable for splicing and terminating, install new 750 Cable and gain hands-on experience with underground system components. Training may also include the replacement of a submersible transformer and exposure to a variety of equipment used for troubleshooting and diagnosing underground electrical systems.
Participants are required to bring proper PPE’s, safety gear, tools, and rubber gloves.
