Courses Offered

Distribution Maintenance

For linemen who are interested in receiving instruction on working with single and three-phase energized lines using insulated cover up with rubber gloves and sleeves, both from an insulated platform on poles and out of bucket trucks. This course will also include single and three-phase maintenance and new construction problems using live line tools for voltages up to 12.5kV. Participants are required to bring proper safety gear, tools, rubber gloves, and climbing gear.

Substation

Journey or apprentice substation techs attending this course will receive instruction from some of the industry's finest instructors. Course topics include step potential with Bierer Meters, hands-on ground grid testing and theory, solutions for protection and
relaying, hands-on relay testing with Doble, and a day touring Glen Canyon Dam. Bring your PPE. (glasses, hard hat, boots, FR)

Transmission

        For lineman who are interested in receiving instruction on live line maintenance and new construction on 46 kV lines. This course will provide needed experience for apprentices and Journeyman lineman on live line transmission work. Participants are
required to bring proper safety gear, tools, rubber gloves, and climbing gear.    

Underground

Linemen in this course will receive a greater understanding of Underground work with instruction and hands on opportunities. Topics include fault finding-primary and secondary, terminating URD cable, underground arresters, hazards of neutral in underground systems, switching instruction in the classroom and real switching on Dixie Powers systems. Participants are requiredto bring proper PPE’s, safety gear, tools, and rubber gloves.
